Busting the Toilet Paper Myth

July 31, 2013

One of the most common problems we come across in home drain cleaning is clogged toilet drains. Our previous blog post will help you out if you already have a clogged toilet, but can it be prevented? Possibly. home drain cleaning

Oftentimes, the cause of a clogged toilet is that someone used too much toilet paper. Now we’ve all seen the commercials boasting better, thicker toilet paper. This type of toilet paper is 2 ply, meaning that it has two layers of paper, compared to 1 ply, which only has one.

It makes sense that toilet paper with two layers would be produced so that you have to pull less off the roll. The problem here is that, when switching from 1 ply to 2 ply, people still use the same number of sheets even though it’s twice as thick! Kids are especially prone to this habit.

If you think that this practice has caused a clogged drain at home and don’t want it to happen again, think about how you (and whoever else uses your toilet) can avoid it. We’re not saying that either type of toilet paper is better than the other, just that you have to limit the amount of toilet paper!

When all else fails, give us a call and we can help you unclog your drain.
